Liner Material Specifications
Opening Statement

Opening Statement

New World stocks a wide range of both potable and non-potable tank and pond liner materials such as vinyl, rubber and urethane for manufacturing custom liners and other products. Some liner materials are UV stablized for ourdoor use, others are NSF approved for potable water containment and still others are suitable only for chemical or industrial uses. Liner material specifications are given in general terms and relate only to the materials available through New World.
20 MIL PVC

20 MIL PVC

20 mil PVC

20 mil PVC

20 mil poly vinyl chloride also known as PVC or vinyl. A potable grade, flexible liner material manufactured with FDA sanctioned raw materials which comply to Title 21, Code of Federal Regulations, part 174-182. This material will take temperature variations from -20 degree F to 120 degree F. It is not UV (ultraviolet) stabilized and, consequently, should not be exposed to direct sunlight. Potable grade liner material is royal blue in color. Several different industrial grade liner materials are stocked in silver, teal (bluegreen), frost clear and window clear. The frost clear material is suitable for liners used for storage of water based paints as well as many other applications. The 20 mil PVC liner material is not UV stabilized, consequently, it is affected by sunlight and not recommended for outdoor ponds or other outdoor uses. The potable grade PVC is suitable for liners in covered tanks, indoor water gardens, hydroponic tanks in nurseries or hot houses, indoor fish rearing tanks, boat water tanks, ice storage tanks, etc. When used as a liner for potable water storage, it is affected by constant fluctuations in the water level and chlorine. PVC generally is not suitable for storage of any type of oil or oil based products. This material can be R.F. welded in large flat sheets or manufactured to configuration. PVC accepts a variety of weldable PVC valves, flanges, boots and shrouds. Estimated life of the liner material is 8-12 years when it is not exposed to UV (ultraviolet) light and approximately 1-2 years when it is exposed to UV.
30 MIL PVC

30 MIL PVC

30 mil PVC

30 mil PVC

30 mil poly vinyl chloride also known as PVC or vinyl. A potable grade, flexible liner material manufactured with FDA sanctioned raw materials which comply to Title 21, Code of Federal Regulations, part 174-182. Material is similar to 20 mil PVC but is 50% thicker, black in color and UV stabilized. Tank liners carry a five year limited warranty and should last eight to fifteen years. Recommended for small pond liners (flat liners or liners manufactured to configuration) and for liners in wood, concrete and metal tanks if tanks continually remain full of water. Material is also suitable as shower stall or tub liner eliminating the need for hot mopping. Material is R.F. welded in flat sheeting or to configuration and accepts a variety of weldable PVC valves, flanges, boots and shrouds.
45 MIL CSPE

45 MIL CSPE

45 MIL CSPE

45 MIL CSPE

CSPE chlorosulphonated polyethylene, aka Hypalon, is an uncured synthetic rubber laminate reinforced with a layer of woven scrim. It is exceptionally resistant to oxidation and is virtually immune to ultraviolet light. It resists a wide range of organic and inorganic chemicals and has proved to be suitable for containment of potable water. Repeated cycles of freezing and thawing do not cause mechanical damage even under tension. CSPE can take temperatures up to 160 degrees F for limited periods of time. Approved by NSF Standard 61 for potable water contact. Industrial grade CSPE material is used as a roofing liner, cover and tarp. Potable grade CSPE material is recommended in medium and large water tanks, ponds, reservoirs, etc. Tank liners carry a five year limited warranty from New World Mfg., Inc. with a thirty year limited warranty on 45 mil material. Expected life of a liner is twenty to forty years. New World stocks 45 mil CSPE, potable grade, with the other materials being ordered as needed.
XR-5 PW

XR-5 PW

XR-5PW

XR-5PW

XR-5 PW (potable water) is a composite geomembrane which derives its strength from the base fabric and environmental and chemical resistance from the polymer coating. The adhesive treatment of the base fabric prevents wicking. XR-5 has contained liquids at near boiling for extended periods of time. XR-5 has the tensile, puncture and abrasion strength of unsupported materials three times as thick. Compared to a laminate (i.e. CSPE), XR-5 has more than twice the grab tensile strength. Additionally, XR-5 has very low thermal expansion/contraction properties. Approved by NSF Standard 61 for potable water contact. Recommended in concrete tanks, ponds, collapsible tanks and for floating covers. Liners carry a five year limited warranty from New World Mfg., Inc. with a ten year limited warranty on the material. Expected life of liner is twenty years plus. A very, very tough material, however, there are no glues or patching materials available in the event you need to make a repair. Repairs are done with hot air guns only. XR-5 Industrial grade material is similar to the above. Potable grade material is excellent for ponds, tanks, reservoirs, baffles, portable water tanks, fish holding tanks, etc. Industrial grade is recommended for chemical applications, both primary and secondary liners.
PERMALON X-210

PERMALON X-210

PERMALON X-210

PERMALON X-210

PERMALON X-210 is a polyethylene material, 18 mil, cross-laminated for strength and UV resistant. When exposed to harsh weather conditions, including intense sun, Permalon X-210 should last in excess of five years. When buried, this material should last indefinitely. Permalon X-210 is chemically inert, non-leachable and is resistant to root penetration, rodents and sand microbials. Recommended for all size ponds, landfill covers, hazardous and toxic site remediation, equipment covers, moisture and radon barriers. FDA requirements for indirect Food Additives under FDA-HFF-35, Title 21, Code of Federal Regualtions. One year warranty.
45 MIL EPDM

45 MIL EPDM

45 MIL EPDM

45 MIL EPDM

45 MIL EPDM is a cured synthetic rubber, very flexible, non-reinforced. It is exceptionally resistant to heat and air pollution and is used in exposed environments where long-term weatherability is essential. Easy to repair. Excellent material for water gardens, fish ponds and streambeds. Available in roll sizes of 10', 20', 25', 30', 40' and 50' wide by 100' long. Custom cuts are available by lineal feet. Life of the material is 20-30 years.

Geo-Textile Underlayment

Geo-Textile Underlayment

A geosynthetic material has many uses. In tanks and ponds it is used mainly to protect the liner from cracks and/or rough surfaces. We stock and use 7 oz geo textile underlayment but lighter and heavier materials (10 oz, 12 oz, ect) are also available when ordering in full rolls. Roll sizes are 15' wide x 300 lineal feet long. Custom cuts available by lineal feet.
